On Friday 28/04/23, 110 EEB4 students had the chance to meet Mr. Georgi Milkov – a famous Bulgarian journalist, international reporter, war correspondent, writer, TV host, and editor-in-chief of a magazine. He shared his rich experience as a correspondent from the hottest spots all over the world, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya included.
Mr. Georgi Milkov published his book “Stories from the hand luggage” which is already the bestseller in all the Bulgarian rankings. At the meeting, the writer had the opportunity to talk about his unforgettable moments, experiences and meetings with some of the greatest leaders on the planet and with thousands of amazing people from all over the world, which he has described in his book. More specifically, he had shared his experience as a correspondent in the Middle East and Africa, while closely covering the unfair trial against the Bulgarian nurses in Libya. In “Stories from the hand luggage” Georgi Milkov not only describes his meetings with epoch-making heroes, but reflects on intriguing places and events that made him become a collector of experiences.
The event was extremely interesting and inspiring for the students and the teachers because they had the opportunity to meet an experienced journalist and military correspondent and to ask him all kinds of questions. Milkov presented his book both in both Bulgarian and English and left no question unanswered. The planned meeting-discussion was held for all students from the Bulgarian section in the middle course, and also for the students and teachers from the secondary school of the European School, Brussels 4 from all sections who are interested in this topic. The project was realized thanks to the support and cooperation of parents from APEEE.

The journalist from the the biggest Bulgarian daily newspaper and online media “24 chasa”/”24 hours” and TV host of the program “Religion Today” of the Bulgarian National Television Mr. Georgi Milkov presented his book “Stories from the hand luggage” in Brussels.
This is its first premiere abroad. Only a few weeks after it has been released the book is already topping all the charts of the Bulgarian readers’ preferences. Milkov is in Brussels at the invitation of the European School, and the organizer is the head of the Bulgarian section in it, Tanya Borisova.
For an hour and a half, Milkov shared with the students, among whom, in addition to the Bulgarians, there were also those from the French section, inspiring memories of his travels in 170 countries around the world.
He answered dozens of questions and emphasized that the best place on Earth in Bulgaria. Milkov gifted a copy of his book to the library and visited the director of the European School Mr. Markko Mattus.
Later on the journalist had another inspiring meeting – at the Bulgarian embassy, with the Ambassador Mr Plamen Bonchev and tens of compatriots who highly appreciate him as both writer and journalist.
