Julie is a certified animator, translator, Primary school teacher and teacher in secondary and higher education. She has many strings to her bow. With a degree in English-Spanish translation, she wanted to combine her three passions: languages, working with young people and travelling. This is how she came to prepare a master’s degree in modern language teaching. Her travels and academic career led her to Canada, Chile and Costa Rica.
In Costa Rica, Julie worked voluntarily for the NGO “Tortugas de Pacuare” where she was in charge of the internal translations of the association but also of the project coordination.
She then moved to Chile, where she worked for the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger (AEFE) network for a year. She taught CM2 at the Lycée Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In this school, Julie worked with children with special needs and a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, speech therapists and educators. She was thus made aware of and trained in the different types of learning and differentiation. This multicultural experience was very fulfilling.
Since her return to Belgium, Julie has been teaching English, Spanish and French from the 3rd year of humanities to higher education (BAC 3). And since the beginning of the school year 2021, she has been teaching in a secondary school with active pedagogy. This is a very motivating project because, according to her, the student and his or her active involvement in the learning process are the keystone of the teaching and consolidation of knowledge.
Her aim at the APEEE is to help children develop their knowledge of French by having fun and communicating in French, despite different language levels. She bases her teaching on games and observation.
Besides that, Julie has been a certified animator since 2014 and has been a scout animator for 6 years. Every summer, she works with children from 3 to 12 years old in a holiday camp. Her goal is to offer a great holiday to all the children by proposing a multitude of activities that will meet their expectations and desires without forgetting to make everyone happy.
