Allan Devolder

Pedagogical vision

From early childhood, playing, creating and learning music and having fun with it gives you the power to be serene and happy for the rest of your life.

Allan has been giving piano lessons for around 15 years (children, teenagers, adults), privately, in extracurricular activities or in schools (Belgium: Au Pied Levé, Kid’s Computer Club, EEB3; London: First Musical Academy and Soundsteps Music School). As well as playing the piano, he teaches music theory, melody writing and piano improvisation based on climate, animals and emotions. He has co-created shows with children in which young musicians combine piano improvisation, drawings and theatrical expression

.Allan started playing the piano at the age of 3 and a half, and took up music theory at the age of 5 in the Paris region. Back in Brussels, he obtained his diploma in classical piano and music theory at the Woluwe St Lambert music academy. He also trained in pop singing, jazz piano, theatre, drawing and contemporary and jazz-funk dance. He has recently taken up drawing and theatrical improvisation again, and plans to combine this with piano improvisation.

With a degree in Sociology (ULB), Drawing (La Cambre), Acting (East 15 Acting School, London) and an Agrégé in Social and Political Sciences (ULB), he sees music as a beneficial action for oneself and others, a peaceful weapon against gloom. Allan has also taught pop singing (children, teenagers, adults), ethics and languages (Dutch, English, French) at secondary level. He is currently a part-time teacher of French as a Foreign Language and has returned to acting in short films. That’s why, for him, teaching is one of the most important jobs in the world: restoring all the riches learned and always aiming to give his pupils confidence, making them creative, confident and happy.
