Digital photography

1st semester

The objective of the first semester is to introduce students to digital photography.

The students will become familiar with the notions of framing and light, image composition, and get used to the photographic equipment. They will be shown examples of professional and non-professional photographic work. They will have access to technical resources on composition, light, field and out-of-field, etc. They will then be able to experiment with them through small exercises and short projects, whether reportage or creation. They will preferably use a digital camera but may also use their mobile phone.

2nd semester

The aim of the second semester is to apply the skills learned to create a more substantial photo project, such as a photo report or a photo novel.

The apprentice photographers will work on a project, alone or with a partner, and will choose whether they want to develop a photo report or a photo novel. They can be inspired by either real life or fiction. For the photo essay, they can choose a subject and imagine a format to tell about it (a person, an event, a place, etc.). If they are working on the photo novel, they will imagine a short story and put it into images through photography. These projects can be published in paper or digital form, or in any other format they wish.
