Issue 15 - Spring 2016


Welcome to the Spring edition of our newsletter! After a short break we are back with updates on the N/P and Secondary Education Councils, details of new projects supported by the Community Fund and various updates on health and safety issues. Why not check out our regular column, "Love Laeken" and find out about what the Dreve Sainte Anne looked like before it became the busy street it is today!

On the services front, remember that the first enrolment phase for transport closes on 31 May 2016. Enrolments for extra-curricular activities will open on 1 June so keep checking the website for details of the activites. You should also have received details about the upcoming Performing Arts Day via email - for those of you who are wondering what Periscolaire involves, this is an excellent opportunity to come and see!

Finally, you should have received detils via email about this year's Somerfesto. The Somerfesto Committee has organised a wide range of exciting activities for kids of all ages to enjoy. Please volunteer to help make it the most successful school party ever!

Come and join a choir!

Children from the International schools in Brussels have been invited to participate in the 2014 Brussels Carol Concert to be held in the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels (KCB)on Sunday 14 December, at 5pm. Children from EEB4 are welcome to join! There is a website and for more info you can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. "The suggested age is 7 - 15 years but of course we can make exceptions. Come along and try it out - if it suits then come again - if not, then enjoy being in the audience. We are having fun afternoons with music games, some singing, some learning of words, a wee party with food from your countries - please bring a contribution if you like - no pressure - I will provide the drinks! Could I please ask parents to type out the words. Some can follow from the music scores but younger children would benefit from just having the words in front of them. We do not expect the children to read the music.

Our next get together will be on Sunday 19 October ,  2-4pm. Venue is St Johns International School in Waterloo. Please look at the website to find directions. We have to use the back entrance to the school!!

Future rehearsals/get togethers are booked for Sundays November 16 and 23. Again, these are not compulsory but we hope that you will be able to attend.

In December we plan to get together on Wednesdays 3 and 10. Time - 5.30 - 7.30pm Venue for these December rehearsals will be Salle Laeticia, Avenue des Grenadiers, 1050 Ixelles. Parking is good - we have space for 20 cars, then there is easy parking in the street. Details of this venue are on the website.


Saturday December 13 from 10 - 12.00 in the Conservatoire itself .

It is compulsory for all who wish to be on stage on Sunday 14 December. There are no exceptions ( neither for the adult choir) - sorry. You will be welcome to sing from the audience if you cannot be with us for the dress rehearsal.


Sunday 14 December at 5pm. Warm up from 3 -4.30 pm (15.00 - 16.30)

Dress code - to be advised - but usually the children wear red or green tee shirts with dark skirts or trousers.Good shoes please - no trainers on stage!!

Aim for the" Christmas green " or a bright red.
